Tips on Selecting Frames for Running :
Runners need to protect their eyes from wind and from UV radiation. However, not just any pair of sunglasses will do. They need to be lightweight and secure so they don't "bounce" or slip off your nose when you sweat. Here are some guidelines for selecting running glasses: Frames: The key here is comfort and security (making sure the frame doesn't bounce or slide off). A shield type frame is recommended to protect the eyes from wind and the sun. Adidas makes the Gazelle frame specifically for running (see below).Lenses: The sunglasses should offer 100% UV protection. If you run primarily on concrete, you may want to consider polarized lenses which absorb 98% of the glare reflected off concrete. With the removal of the sun's glare, objects become more distinct and are seen in their true colors. Though running is not considered a high impact activity, we still recommend polycarbonate lenses because of their impact resistance and durability. Since running make take place at different times of the day or in various weather conditions, you may want to consider a photochromatic lens, which will lighten or darken according to the amount of light. The color of the lens can also increase contrast so you can better see possible hazards in the terrain. A brown based lens will provide the best contrast while a gray lens allows true perception with the least color distortion. Manufacturer's Innovation: The Gazelle by Adidas is designed specifically for running with a patented fit system that creates unparalleled comfort. The Gazelle features polycarbonate lenses with Light Stabilizer Lens Technology (LST), which eliminates eye strain caused by the runner moving quickly from bright sunlight to shade. Additional features includes interchangeable lenses, patented SPX frame material, additional extra soft Pebax material on the temples, break-away temple safety mechanism, adi-grip temple tips, Tri.Fit System for 8° temple adjustment and a Two-Position silicone nose bridge.
