Tips on Selecting Frames for Tennis :
Despite warnings that prolonged exposure to the sun's harmful rays can damage eyes, many tennis players still have an aversion to wearing sunglasses. One argument is that sunglasses compromise visual acuity by reducing the amount of light that reaches the eye. Another is that they distort colors, making it harder to focus on fast-moving tennis balls. Well, Bollé has addressed these issues with the first-of-its-kind, patented, tennis-specific Competivision™ lens. Along with providing 100% UV protection, the teal colored polycarbonatelens has a filter that separates the court background from the ball. As a result, "the yellow ball comes at you like Godzilla in a 3-D movie" according to Tennis Magazine. The stark contrast achieved between background and tennis ball makes Competivision lenses ideal for playing or watching tennis. But please note that since the teal lens mutes reds and greens of traffic signals or brake lights, it should not be worn for driving. Each Competivision frame also comes with interchangeable Gray Gun Flash lenses so the frames can be used for other sports. All the Competivision frames have a custom prescription option, either using the optional Bollé Sport Optical System (Rx insert) or a custom Authentic Rx prescription lens directly from Bollé.
